Long Beach Cruise Ship Lawyer

If you were injured on a cruise ship that sailed from Long Beach then you should speak with a Long Beach cruise ship accident attorney as soon as possible. Considering the fact that Carnival operates and owns the cruise terminal at Long Beach, the odds are if you were injured on a cruise ship from Long Beach it was one of the Carnival ships.

The Miami cruise ship injury attorneys at Gerson & Schwartz have long represented many clients in their personal injury claims against Carnival. In fact, our personal injury attorneys have more than 80 years of experience representing cruise ship injury victims.

We can put that knowledge and experience to work for you and your family. In fact, we can tell you the first two things that we need to discuss on your first call. First is a legal concept called the statute of limitations. What that means is that the law places a time limit in which you can bring certain types of lawsuits.

Generally, the statute of limitations for cruise ship accidents and injuries is one year. The second issue we will discuss in your first call is what is referred to as forum selection meaning where you can file your lawsuit. In most cases, the conditions and terms on your cruise ship ticket dictate that if you want to file a lawsuit for your injury and damages, then you have already agreed to file suit in federal court in Miami.

So as you can see, you will likely have one year to file your lawsuit. If you need to file a lawsuit will most likely be in federal court in Miami. That is why our Miami cruise ship accident lawyers can help you even if you were injured on a Carnival cruise that sailed out of the Port of Long Beach. Port of Long Beach

The Port of Long Beach was founded in 1911. Eight hundred acres of mudflats at the mouth of Los Angeles River was the basis for its foundation. The first board of commissioners was formed in 1917 in order to supervise harbor operations. Due to the booming economy Long Beach voters approved $5 million to improve the inner and outer harbor in 1924.

By 1926, more than one million tons of cargo went through the port, and additional piers were built to accommodate the additional business. The Port was expanded exponentially after the 1932 discovery of the Wilmington Oil Field which was fourth largest oil field in the United States.

Much of the field was under Long Beach and the Harbor itself. The expansion was not just a move to find more oil, but to accommodate the sudden immense output of oil that was to be exported through the Port of Long Beach.

By 1946, the port was established as “America’s most modern port” with the completion of the first of nine clear span transit sheds including the ultimate completion of Pier E and expansion of Pier B in 1949.

In the late 1990s and through 2011, the Long Beach Port gained increased traffic after leasing many of its now numerous terminals. In 1997 approximately one million containers were inbound, and by 2005 this number had tripled to nearly 3.3 million containers. The Port’s annual tonnage is 78.2 million, with an annual container volume of 6.73 million units.

Mr. Gerson and all his team gave to my case the careful and professional attention it needed from the beginning to end. Unfortunately, a year ago I was involved in a car accident on the victim side.
